That Charlie tease is the meanest thing they've ever done. We can forgive them though.

This Cosmic tease goes down as the most brutal denial the Dead ever unleashed. This show came at the pittering end of my days seeing the boys (little did I know how final that would be) and not only had I witnessed live a few brutal teases in my days and had certainly winced and moaned along with many on tape this was by far the toughest based on numerous criteria. First lets start with the most basic. This wasn't one guy struming a melody with the rest of the crowd hopeing the band would pick up on it and go. The entire band was on point with this one. As Jerry stepped to the mic to start singing he seemingly spaced at the last second and steped back. This brings up point two. The first lyrics of this song is the TITLE! The whole crowd was singing and could have carried the tune for that matter. The last point was that it made sense. Luckily The band began an amazing trend in the fall of "89 of busting out long forgotten songs. After the Warlocks shows the doors were off the hinges. Ever tour came with a new batch of unearthed gems. This song seemed to fit into this vain at the time. It is such a signature tune in many ways for the boys from the bay and it would have been such a rush to take that ride with them again, if only through song. All I can say is thank you Grateful Dead for all the amazing moments you shared with us but this one broke my heart. After that it was tough for the Dead to bring the crowd back into the show. The show overall stand the test of time fairly well but if nothing else you have to hear the dagger they threw that night. Brutal

Subject: I got in!
A security guard sold me a ticket, and I walked in during samson. The band was rockin pretty good. They took a breather, and then Jerry starts up Uncle John's. 17 minutes worth with a Suplication jam thrown in for good measure. Loping, lyrical, the finest I'd ever see. Corrina was better than usual, and the following jam into drums is very good. The parade and the dragon ascendin into the rafters was something to see. Other One was a bit disjointed, and the Cosmic Charlie intro was a blast. Wharrf Rat started out as a letdown, but this was better than average. Lovelight was great, and Rain sent us home in good measure.

This recording captures the vibe, although it's no professional soundboar matrix or mix. Welcome back to Oakland, my friends.

Subject: long drive to get there....longer to get home
so myself and three freinds drove from central ill. to get to this run of shows. No tix for first night, had to hang out with the helicopters in the parking lot. very strange vibes that night. second night rocked....lo and behold the third night came complete with an eight armed dancer to start we sat jerry side stage right behind one of the golden lions. space included a duel between light and darkness each represented by its own dragon. Swirling and turning above center floor until the light finally prevailed and ascended into the dome ceiling. As far as the Cosmic Charlie teaser, man I must have been on some other planet because I missed it during the show uugh, sure as anything it almost was. Can I blame Vince?

Subject: cosmic tease
I was at the show and was totally blown away by the comic jam, they were finally going to play it, they have been playing with it for so long and finally they were going to go through with it!!!!!!!! What....... whats this.. a right turn, dip,, dive out of it into wharf rat!! ok I like wharf rat a lot! but man it left a bitter taste for the rest of the night!!! The dragon diplays were really cool though, they even had a huge white dragon go flying across the the stadium towards the stage, that was really cool, also they had all these chinese dancers on various stages which was also pretty cool

Subject: COSMIC FAKEOUT
Just listed to that legendary cosmic tease and man it was there. Poor Review is based on that only and not the entire show.

You can feel (and hear) the entire audience sigh with dissapointment when the cosmic charlie "tease" turns out to be wharf rat. They took it too far to just quit on the idea.
